Today was simply packed with activity.
First, we had the Walk for Farm Animals. About 50 people were pre-registered and many more showed up for the walk and registered on the spot. All told, we had over 70 people walking (someone said they counted 80 people)! The biggest walk we’ve organized so far!
We don’t yet have the final count of money raised for Farm Sanctuary, but I’m sure it will be over $4,000, which is great.
The walk route went along Broadway and a section of 4th Avenue, so many people saw us walking. We got lots of honks and thumbs up along the way. We even had a police escort, and they were very helpful making sure we all got across intersections safely. A guy whose name I don’t remember did an amazing job leading chants on the megaphone.
Here are some photos from the walk:
After the walk many of us headed out to UBC to hear Jon Camp (of Vegan Outreach) speak about leafleting. We’re not sure on the exact count of people, but it was a little over 90 people. And we raised more than $350 for Vegan Outreach. Thanks a lot to the UBC Veggie Club for helping organize this event.
The talk was really good too. Here’s a couple of blurry photos:
After the talk: dinner! Tofurkey donated 10 roasts for the event, and many people made veggie dishes. We planned for 50 people and managed to feed 90-something people. Veganmania donated desserts for the dinner, which were amazing, as always. Karmavore donated a gift bag for a door prize, and Spud donated some prizes as well.
All in all, a really fantastic day. Everyone involved did a wonderful job pulling it all together. Thanks!

Fantastic events, Glenn. I’m glad I took the time off work to come out to both of them! We should do a similar dinner next year too if we can. Thanks to you and Joanne for organizing. Well done.
It was a lot of fun!! We need to put a name to the awesome guy that helped lead the chant!! We love you “A guy whose name I don’t remember;” can you come out next year?!!

It was super fun!
Thanks to everyone who brought food, helped post flyers and notices, brought a friend along etc etc. We could not have pulled this off without you! We have so many amazing people in Vancouver helping animals!
